Time is one of those things that there never seems to be enough of. It’s the excuse for being late, why you didn’t make it to the grocery store, didn’t play with your kid, or didn’t reach some goal that you set out to. There is never enough time. I have been guilty very often of saying “There are not enough hours in the day.” Obviously there are days when it seems like the hours just fly by but let’s face it, most the time we squander hours due to lack of efficiency or spend way too much time with… (insert addictive game, website, social media outlet, etc.)
The bottom line is we have a lot of time on our hands but it is all about how we choose to use it. I always thought I was busy, then I had a kid. Now it is a whole new level of busy. You will never have more time and that is all there is to it. What matters is how you choose to use your time. Next time you say “I don’t have time for that” think about it and rephrase it to “I am choosing to spend my time doing something different”
Now instead of time controlling what you do you are. When you say I’m choosing to do this instead of that maybe you will realize that your priorities are out of whack. Are you choosing to spend time with your kids? Are you choosing to spend time with people you would rather not be around? Are you choosing to spend half your life sitting in traffic? Are you choosing to spend time at the office? Are you choosing to exercise? Are you choosing to do one little thing that could get you ahead or are you choosing to put it off because you don’t have the time?
Choose to make the time for the things that matter and choose to not make the time for the things that don’t.
