Working With Friends

Working with friends is something that mentally I have always had conflicting views on but actions speak louder than words and I have a history of almost always mixing business with pleasure. I just officially added one of my good friends to the team at Moceri Construction. We have been talking about it for a while and he decided it was a good time for a change and we are in a growth phase, so the timing seems right. We have had two other businesses together in the past so I know that we work well together.

I have a track record of working with friends and it has always gone very well for me. They say don’t mix business with pleasure but I have not been able to keep them apart. I have been in business with a lot of my friends and the one thing that I will say is that it is a great feeling going into something knowing that you have 100% trust in your partner. I think we have had a tendency to work harder for each other than you would someone off the street. In all instances when a tough situation has arisen it has never turned into a fight but one where we rally to solve the issue. On top of it all, it makes whatever you are doing more fun when you enjoy the people you are doing it with.

I know what you are thinking, what if you ruin your friendship? That possibility is out there and I have heard horror stories. It is a risk but with great risk comes great reward and so far working with friends has been one of the most rewarding things I have done in my life. I think that treading cautiously is wise but don’t be afraid to explore the possibility. So if you’re going to be workin, it may as well be with friends!
