Over the last couple of years, my blogging has trailed off, with just a few random posts a year. My influx in freelance writing has contributed to that, as that’s where a lot of my mental writing space often goes. In addition, I have been working on publishing a book. My book, A Wandering Mind, was inspired by this blog. A couple of the most popular ones made it into the book with some minor changes or additions.
I have loved sharing my random thoughts over the years, often including some sort of life lesson at the end of each post. When possible, I like to instill self-deprecating humor to hopefully get a laugh and show how we can all learn when the best-laid plans go awry. As I tried to write multiple long-form books over the years, I’m not always a quick learner; I finally realized that these shorter pieces were how I best completed my work. This is mainly due to my wandering mind that bounces from interest to interest easily daily but often by the minute. What evolved on the pages, or rather the screen, is what I generally describe as my blog on steroids. It is made up of original pieces ranging from 300-3,000 words. In addition, I have written poems. A few stand on their own, but most are short poems that accompany a piece and its lesson. There are also quotes by others who were often able to brilliantly capture the lesson in one sentence.
I appreciate and want to thank those of you who have been reading my blog over the years. The clicks gave me the confidence to keep writing and to publish some work. That grew into freelance writing, which, unbelievably, I have been doing for four and a half years now. Without that confidence boost from those of you who gave me positive feedback, I don’t know that this book would have ever come to fruition. Even with all the posts and articles I have done I still get nervous with each one.
Just as A Wandering Mind is my blog on steroids, so are the nerves. This is a new way that I am putting myself out there, and I am scared of what the response may be. The reality is that the book is now available to everyone, so I will just have to wait and see what people say.
I hope A Wandering Mind reaches new people and that some of my less glamorous moments can be lessons for those who pick up my book. Most of all, I hope that all of you who have been readers of my blog enjoy it. You are the ones who encouraged and helped direct my writing.
Right now, I have a bunch of stuff to do to try and sell this book, but I plan to pick up the pace on the blogging, so hopefully, you will continue to enjoy those pieces as I post them. Thank you for your support over the years, it is truly appreciated.
